Holiday with Heart on WSPD Radio Friday, Nov. 29, 2013
Holiday with Heart committee member Rick Cornett has been invited back to the Eye On Your Weekend radio show, hosted by Michael Miller of the Toledo Free Press.
Last year Rick appeared on the radio show promoting the Holiday with Heart Charity Gayla and is excited to be returning this year as the public relations person for the charity organization.
The interview will air on Friday, November 29th, at 6:00 PM, on WSPD 1370 AM.
Holiday with Heart is grateful to Michael Miller and WSPD Radio for the exposure and opportunity to promote the 36th annual holiday dinner and dance benefiting the local LGBT community.
Holiday with Heart Receives Award
Holiday with Heart was one of five recipients of Equality Toledo's Annual Equality Awards presented on Sun., Oct. 20, 2013. The award, given in recognition of service the the local LGBT community, is a great honor that we are most grateful to accept. Other recipients included Torie Thorne (Toledo Pride Foundation, Pride Center 419), Shannon Fry and Leslie Hancock (Rainbow Area Youth), TAGALA - John Widmer, and Michael Miller, Editor in Chief of the Toledo Free Press. Our congratulations go out to the other award recipients, and our sincere thanks go to Equality Toledo.

Holiday with Heart Donates $650 to new Pride Center 419

On September 5th an open house celebration was hosted by Pride Center 419 to welcome the Toledo LGBT community into the new pride center. Over 200 people attended the event with support from all aspects of the lesbian,gay,bisexual, transgender community and our allies. Members of the Holiday with Heart committee made a formal check presentation of $650 to Pride Center 419 to help assist with their daily operations. Pride Center 419 is a rented space within the Collingwood Arts Center at 2413 Collingwood Blvd., and it is a collaborative effort with the Pride of Toledo Foundation, Equality Toledo and Toledo Rainbow Alliance. Pride Center 419 will provide resource information, community meeting space, LGBT book and video library, hygiene pantry and special events for the LGBT community.
Holiday with Heart is proud to support the Pride Center 419 with contributions made by you. Your continued support of the Annual Dinner and Dance helps the local community establish resources such as this one. Thank you.
Gayla Set for December 8th at the Toledo Club
After much debate and scouting for a new venue, the Holiday with Heart committee has decided to return to the historic and beautiful Toledo Club for our 36th Annual Dinner and Dance. The date is set for Sunday, December 8th, from 4-11 PM. We regret that we lost our preferred Saturday night at the Toledo Club, but a Club members-only event was already reserved. We have reserved, and been assured, a Saturday night date in 2014 and 2015, should the event remain at the Toledo Club in the future. Be watching your mailbox for save the date postcards in late September. Formal invites will follow in late October. Holiday with Heart Announces 2013 Beneficiaries
Holiday with Heart is proud to announce that our beneficiaries for the 2013 Charity Gayla are, Rainbow Area Youth (RAY) and the Holiday with Heart Foundation. RAY is a local, nonprofit, support group for LGBTQA youths between 13 and 19 years old. The group was founded in 1997 and holds a weekly meeting every Thursday from 6:30 - 8:30 PM at Trinity Episcopal Church, 316 Adams St. in Toledo. The Holiday with Heart Foundation is a long-term financial endowment that will benefit local LGBT events, groups, and causes. The fund holds $17,294.48 as of June 30, 2013, and we are within reach of our initial $25,000 goal. More information can be viewed on the Holiday with Heart Foundation page.
Holiday with Heart Welcomes Volunteer to Team
We are happy announce that Rickie Waugh is the latest addition to the Holiday with Heart volunteer team. Rickie accepted the role as special events/entertainment coordinator and will be assisting the committee with these duties in a volunteer position.
